Blogroll

A lot of Gospel rescue missions are getting into social media; one of the easiest ways, of course, is to start a blog.

We launched ours in January of this year (2009) and are now seeing regular numbers of visitors, on a daily basis, whether or not we've posted anything new. That's very encouraging. We're happy to see others are interested in learning about Union Mission.

So we thought we'd highlight a few other Gospel rescue mission blogs out there, starting with...

The Soapbox (The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions)

AGRM just went through a site re-design, and one of the topics of conversation during this year's AGRM convention in Denver was its emphasis on blogging. They are calling it "The Soapbox," and during convention let members missions know they wanted collaboration on it.

(That being said, AGRM needs to get on the ball! Just one post since the site re-launch...come on!)

Rev. Andy's Blog (Union Rescue Mission)

Rev. Andy Bales is the president and CEO of Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. His is the gold standard for blogs out there; he does an excellent job with his blog, which is a nice mix of URM marketing, homelessness news and spotlight on issues. He's also very active on Twitter.

President's Corner (Atlanta Union Mission)

Atlanta has one of the highest per-capita homeless populations in the nation. That makes Jim Reese's blog especially important. After all, his people are on the front lines in a very involved war on poverty, with many lessons to teach the rest of us.

We'll keep an eye out and post more at some point. But if you're interested in an unfiltered look at a Gospel rescue mission, these are good places to start.
